Pokemon Walk is released!

Pokemon Walk, my location-based fan game, is available to the public to play! PW is a simplified, hyper-casual game to play while walking around and going places powered by PraxisMapper.

Compared to GO, Walk is missing a few things. The catching mini-game is gone and replaced with an auto-battle using GO-style combat. Items, Stops and Gyms are also gone. You earn coins by walking, and those are automatically spent to catch Pokemon you defeat in battle. You can engage in raid battles with a team of 6 pokemon anywhere in the world, and you'll find a new one by moving about 400 feet away. There's also no multiplayer anything at launch.  It's also got no microtransactions or ads, no AR features that kill your battery life, and doesn't track your usage or gameplay in any form.

Walk does include thing not in GO. All forms of all pokemon are available. Weekly events on a theme don't drown out the area spawns. You can see the spawn table for the area you're in by spending the coins your earned walking. Once you hit level 5, you can also rarely find some selected fusion pokemon around the world.

Your buddy pokemon, in the upper right corner of the screen, also gets more powerful by going to places of cultural relevance. Parks, libraries, hiking trails, art galleries, and more count towards that list. Each one your buddy visits counts as a free level up for them, and there is not a cap on how many places one can get benefits from.

On a technical note, Pokemon Walk draws the maps for the game on your phone directly, and doesn't use an external service. Once you download the map data on the launch screen the first time, you won't need an internet connection to play or see the map unless you leave that area. If you do travel outside that, the game will attempt to download smaller pieces of map data automatically.
